Hydrogen-Based Power Supply at the Ikarus Festival
Successful hydrogen deployment demonstrates the capabilities of mobile energy solutions

At this year’s Ikarus Festival in Memmingen (Germany), HYGEN Technologies successfully implemented a hydrogen-based power supply for the “Ploom Space”. The mobile HYGEN generator reliably supplied the module with electrical power throughout the event.
The solution was based on a hydrogen-powered generator using an H2 internal combustion engine. Combined with a battery storage system, the overall setup could be operated in line with demand and flexibly adapted to the actual power consumption. Green hydrogen was used for the energy supply.
The successful operation under real-world event conditions demonstrated the reliability and performance of the HYGEN system. The interaction between the generator, battery storage system and connected loads enabled a demand-driven power supply throughout the entire deployment.
Particularly at events, load requirements and operating conditions can change at short notice. The system responded flexibly to these changing requirements, demonstrating that hydrogen-based power supply can be implemented reliably and effectively even in a dynamic event environment.
The project therefore opens up new opportunities for mobile and temporary power supply. It demonstrates that hydrogen-based solutions can already be deployed successfully under real-world conditions – for example at events, on construction sites, in industrial projects and in other off-grid applications.
Digital Operational Support with the HYGEN Platform
In addition to the technical energy solution, the new digital HYGEN platform was also successfully used during the deployment. It supported the central monitoring and documentation of the system throughout the event and consolidated relevant information for operation and support. In this way, HYGEN combines hydrogen-based power supply with a digital solution for transparent and efficiently coordinated deployment.
Energy as a Service by HYGEN
HYGEN not only provided the technical solution but also managed the planning, implementation and support of the entire deployment. The project therefore represents HYGEN’s Energy-as-a-Service approach – a coordinated power solution covering everything from energy demand analysis, system design and hydrogen logistics to on-site operation and support.
The deployment at the Ikarus Festival demonstrates how high-performance hydrogen technology, intelligent system integration and coordinated project implementation can be combined to create a reliable overall solution.
